Madame Alexander has produced a collectible series for The Wizard Of Oz Madame Alexander Dolls with all the famous character from the Book, Movie, and Broadway Theater Play
Our Madame Alexander Wizard of Oz dolls for sale, including Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion, have become some of the most sought after and loved dolls in the Madame Alexander collectible doll line. The first Wizard of Oz doll was introduced by the Alexander Company as a 14" Dorothy doll. Then they moved on to produce the sought after 8" size Dorothy in 1991, in her original blue check dress with her dog Toto in a basket.
The 8" Madame Alexander Dorothy doll was such a success that they added the three other main characters to the doll line in 1993: The Cowardly Lion 8" Doll, The Scarecrow 8" Doll, and The Tin Man 8" Doll, all designed to match their Wizard Of Oz Movie outfits.
As a a special Mid-Year, 1 month only edition, in 1994 they produced an 8" Dorothy in a green checked dress as she wore in The Green City Of Oz, an 8" Wizard Of Oz himself in a green suit, Glinda The Good Witch, the Winged Monkey in brown, and a 8" Wicked Witch in a black gown with fire coming up the hemline. Many collectors missed these issues because they were produced for only 1 month, they became rare, and valuable. As Madame Alexander collectors, we have many Wizard of Oz dolls for sale, including Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion, as well as rare and hard to find dolls like Glinda and the Wicked Witch with fire on her hem.
The Madame Alexander Company saw how much the collectors desired their Wizard Of Oz Dolls, so they continued to add Munchkin dolls, like the Lullaby League Munchkin, the Flower Munchkin, the Town Crier, The Sleepytime in an egg, and many more. The Munchkin dolls have been designed in both the 8" and 5" doll sizes. The company made special editions of Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. They even created some of the dolls in the 10" Madame Alexander doll size to make them appear bigger than the 8" Dorothy, like the Wicked Witch of The East, The Wicked Witch of The West, Glinda The Good With, and Miss Gulch with her bicycle. They introduced a very limited edition 8" doll of Dorothy's dog, Toto.
The Alexander Company has come up designs of the 8" dolls in many of the main characters in different outfits, such as the Scarecrow, Lion, and Tin Man as the Winkie Guards. Oz himself dressed at Professor Marvel, and as the Gatekeeper to Oz with a door to the city. They have added doll clothes trunks sets, backdrops to display the Wizard of Oz 8" dolls, and special doll stands of the yellow brick road.
Our Wizard of Oz Madame Alexander dolls for sale, including Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion, have truly been fun dolls to collect. It is very hard for the collector to obtain the entire Madame Alexander Wizard of Oz Collection.
